John Lennon - 251 Menlove Avenue

251 Menlove Avenue, also called Mendips, is a semi-detached house in the area of Woolton in south Liverpool, England.

It was the childhood home of John Lennon, it belonged to his aunt Mimi and her husband George. He moved in with them from 1945, when he was five years old, since his mother couldn't cope afte rhis father left them. He stayed with his aunt and uncle until 1963 when he was 23 years old.

A photo of the house was used on the sleeve cover for Oasis' 1994 single Live Forever, though Noel Gallagher claims the track itself was partly inspired by the Rolling Stones track Shine a Light.

When the house was up for sale it was bought by John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, restored and given to the National Trust. Since the 27th of March 2003 it is open to the public.
