60 Glisson Road in Cambridge was owned by Dr Arthur Max Barrett and his wife Winifred. Syd was born into this home on the 6th of January 1946, the family lived here until he was four years old. He was named Roger Keith Barrett at birth, but changed his name into Syd when he was fourteen, a homage to an old local drummer, Sid Barrett.
As the family grew the Barretts moved into a much larger home on 183 Hills Road, which could accomodate their five children.
